Is technology the best answer to environmental destruction?

Although technology causes its fair share of problems it does hold positives for the environment. For example, technology has led to the vital invention of computers which act as an unlimited source of data storage. This results in a significant reduction in the usage of paper to store information. Lesser trees are thus destroyed, them being the primary resource for paper and the environment always benefits with more trees and greenery around to combat the adverse effects of pollution. Therefore it can be said that technology brings about greater inventions which benefit the society more than harm it, directly or indirectly.
